Okay, I finally signed this blog up for Entrecard (the ad block is there on the right!) I love it because it brings visitors in, but also finds me cool new blogs to read. I don’t have a lot of money for advertising my blogs, so I can do it through Entrecard by visiting blogs and dropping my “card” in the slot.

I’ve noticed in the few weeks I’ve been a member (with my other blog) that there are a lot of blogs with zero content. How annoying! You need to build your blog BEFORE you ask people to visit. You don’t want people to just visit once, you want repeat visitors. No content = No repeat visitors = No use.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of people use the option to have Entrecard make a text-like graphic for your use. Those graphics are honestly not attractive and will not bring people to your website. Again, if you want repeat visitors and not just fly by night visitors put forth the effort to make a nice graphic for your advertising needs.

I’m willing to help you out if you need a 125×125 graphic for Entrecard. If you are an Entrecard member and would like for me to make you a graphic then just let me know in the comment. I will just “Charge” you 5 credits - seems nice to me no? Let me know, okay?

I have to point out a cool blog that requested advertising - it’s called “The Thin Red Line” and it’s all book reviews. What an awesome blog! Especially since I just got back into the whole “reading” thing, lol Yeah, I’m an illiterate little girl. Well, no, I’m really not, I just have zero time for anything more then a Cosmo. I’ve been MAKING time (usually while locked in the bathroom). Enough about me, check out the blog m’kay?

I got a barrage of comment spam last night!! The funniest piece of spam in the world actually, all it said was that “Google is the best search engine Google…” DUH? Someone from Amsterdam. Do they actually like having their entire net experience run by the Google Gods? lol … crazy spammers …

PPP has been making me nuts lately. I seriously think people just sit at the opportunities page all day and just hit refresh and take any single opp they can. If you don’t have time to stake out the site you are “S.O.L” .. it’s a major pain in the ass. So, needless to say, I am about paid up on PPP. Haven’t taken any opps in awhile. I think I took a $5.00 one on OhhRah the other day. That’s been about it lately.

I removed my Blogsvertise account because I’ve only gotten 2 assignments on there, the third assignment was for my Starryskye blog and Blogsvertise wanted more links then the advertiser provided, so while the advertiser was okay with my post, Blogsvertise wanted more. For $4.00 it wasn’t worth the hassle. SO, I closed my account and contacted the advertiser directly. They personally accepted my post and the money was sent to my paypal account. I love “drug deals” lol But seriously, if advertisers want something, why not just contact the BLOGGER and forget the middle man?

I just hate the competitiveness that the middle man provides I guess. I opened up my blogs to paid postings/reviews because the extra money comes in handy. We just moved and I’m trying to pay off bills. Plus it’s honestly nice to be able to give my family and friends some extras. I’ve gotten a pro-account with Flickr, bought my hubby a  TogetherWeServed account so he could keep up with his military buddies, bought a domain name for my best friend, bought another domain name and full hosting for me. I’ve paid 1/2 of the credit card bill for a new laptop (I’ve always wanted my own!), and of course took chunks out of bills. I love having some extra money coming in and being able to stay home with my son.

Let me start off by saying that we’ve been visiting with my parents this past week. Dad was flicking through the television guide and came across “Reefer Madness” which was a propaganda film made in 1936 to warn parents of the EVIL ways of “Marahuana” and those who use it. So, of course Mom and I were like “yeah! let’s watch it” (because we are wacky like that. So, we did.

I have to say that the movie was hilarious! I’m not sure that they did ANY research whatsoever on actual effects of weed before they shot the movie. They had obvious adults playing teenagers who giggled like crazy and dances to jazz music (teh evil!) while hopped up on dope. The movie was way more funny than I think it was meant to be honestly.

According to a commenter on IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base):

“Because of 70’s NORML propaganda falsely claiming that the FBI sponsored Reefer Madness, most viewers believe that this Exploitation classic was meant to be taken seriously. Not so! Thelma White (Mae) has noted in interviews that the producers and director Louis Gasnier asked the cast to “hoke it up.” The famous “Faster, Faster” scene is, in fact, a direct parody of a similar scene in the classic musical 42nd Street (a scene in which Dave O’Brien–Ralph in Reefer Madness–played a chorus boy).”

That explains a lot really. The movies was so, so over the top and unless you were actually IN the 1930’s and very against the usage of “marahuana” then I think you’d crack yourself up right off the couch. My husband thinks that this movie would be even funnier if watched while hopped up on the dope!

I’ve signed up for Entrecard (a neat blog “business card” dropping idea) on my Starryskye blog. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it and getting a lot of hits from it recently, so it’s been well worth my time clicking links to visit sites and dropping my “card” on them. I’m thinking of adding this website to it, but I worry that there really isn’t enough content on it yet. I don’t know  if I’ve necessarily found this blogs “niche” yet, you know? I’ve been lazy keeping up with all of the blogs I run lately due to the holidays. But, that’s not bad - I think everyone is taking a break.

Anyway, I guess that’s it - I was surfing around Entrecard and figured I’d blog it.

The world of paid blogging came to a bit of a halt for me last month when Google decided that I wasn’t worthy of the PR4 that my website (Starryskye.org) has had for years. So, the $500+ per month I was making literally disappeared. So, I’m looking for some more freelance work. I signed up for Blogs Do Make Money - which is more picky and run by a S/WAHM. The opportunities I have had range from a Dove campaign (which I loved doing) to a review of a recipe website (which again, I loved doing). So, more freelance work would be nice since I can be more choosy. I don’t mind blogging for “stuff” you know? Samples rock my world, lol!

So, I just did a search of Google (why do I still use them?) … anyway, I did a search for “freelance paid blogging” and it came up with http://www.paidposting.org/ which, if it works, sounds cool.

I know I am really new to the world of advertising … I’m honestly not planning on being the “Next Big Internet Entrepreneur” … I just want some extra cash, maybe some samples and some cool things to write about.

Has anyone caught the Tila Tequila “Shot at Love” show? I catch it every now and then and have been rooting for one chick in particular. Not because I think she should necessarily be with Tila Tequila, but I think she’s cool (and pretty hot, lol) so I think she should win. And plus, how often do you see a bi-sexual batchellorette reality show - AND - the bi-sexual batchellorette picks a woman?

The season finale is on tonight at 10pm on MTV. It’s either Dani or Bobby.

Bobby is favored to win it seems for the simple fact that Tila is more of a “lipstick loving lesbian” - meaning, she likes non-butch chicks. And Dani is, well, kinda butch. Everyone seems to WANT Dani to win though.

Bobby is “Mr. Average” …. He’s not really hot, not really interesting … He’s even kind of a jealous guy. How can he expect to handle someone like Tila Tequila? She became famous on MySpace. For what? Being on MySpace?

I dunno …

I’m not sure I will be able to catch the show tonight since I’m at my parents house, my hubby isn’t into wacky reality shows and I have a ton of gifts to wrap. That and I’ve been drinking eggnog and I might just pass out. Or eat too much snacky stuff, and pass out. I’m not sure what I am going to do tonight. I just wanted to research Dani I suppose. Lol …. effin closet case I am.

I dunno … she seriously needs to get her life straight. She needs to take priority with her kids and stop acting like a wacko. I’m happy to see her taking an interest in her music career, “Gimmie More” needed a little “More” the song is cool, but the video was le’suck) but another song on the album “Hot as Ice” or something is awful. I’m no expert, but it’s a start, right?

Oh. My. Goodness!! Let me just talk about fast food okay? Burger King has these awesome “steakhouse” burgers right now, the price is steep (for fast food) at $3.99 each, but they are GOOD and taste like they are literally from a STEAKHOUSE! I ordered the Steakhouse Burger with tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and mayo and hubby got the Steakhouse Mushroom & Swiss one. They were both excellent!

Another super-yum lately is that both Arby’s and Sonic have fried cheesecake bites. Good gracious they are GOOD!!

I’ma gonna gain 900lbs this holiday season.

Ps. I had the seasons first (and second) glass of eggnog last night. One made with Myers Dark Rum, and the second with a “Cuban” Rum from Spain. I now have a hangover.

I just moved to Virginia and already noticed the fashion differences between here and Florida. I feel like I am back in Spain again! The boots (over the jeans of course), the heels, the scarves and sweaters! It’s winter in the city baby! I picked up a paid of super cute Ugg-wannabe boots over at Wet Seal (pic to the left). I’ve never really lived in a place where I could wear such furry boots, lol. I’m a Florida girl you know! While checking out the Dec ‘07/Jan ‘08 People Style I saw a whole page devoted to “winter wear” for under $100 (my boots didn’t make the list). They are all super cute, just not $20! They also had cute sweaters pictured (I really want an Eskimo-type jacket with a furry hood!!) I loved the one I saw at American Eagle yesterday while I was shopping. HM also had a beautiful pea-coat style one which was only $69. The AE one made the list in People also - it’s $79.50. I gotta give kudos to the awesome Swedish style snow hats with the pom-poms attached! I tried several on in the store only to be laughed at by my husband. He doesn’t share the same hat love I do. My friend, Tascha tried on a couple cute hats also, and took “My Space” style pics … wonder if she’s posted them yet, lol.

One trend I don’t get is the slipper style booties. Can you wear them outside? Weird. Also, Ugg has has sheepskin flip flops. WTH?
